According to the US EPA, agriculture accounted for 9% of the total US greenhouse gas emissions in 2015. A similar figure was reported in Canada by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. The EPA also reported that agricultural runoff is the leading cause of pollution of lakes and rivers. The application of our EarthSkin product line will help better manage soil for reduced runoff and greenhouse gas emissions.
Globally, there is an estimated 9.7 billion pounds of agricultural cover plastic used annually with 1 billion pounds consumed in the US alone. Less then 10% of this plastic is recycled with the vast majority ending up in landfills, burned or buried. EarthSkinx can be applied directly on the soil to create a breathable earth shield matrix that protects the soil from wind and rain erosion eliminating the need for black plastic and reducing the negative environmental impact.
